Verarbeitungsqualität und Haptik
Wenn man Ausrüstung über Geröllfelder schleppt, zählt jedes Gramm. Das Erste, was am Oura auffällt, ist, dass es praktisch unsichtbar ist. Mit einem Gewicht von nur etwa 4 bis 6 Gramm hat es einen Luftwiderstand von null. Es verhakt sich nicht an Rucksackgurten wie eine klobige GPS-Uhr und drückt auch nicht ins Handgelenk, wenn man es vorne am Gepäckträger trägt.
Die Haltbarkeit ist allerdings durchwachsen. Ich habe die „Stealth“-Beschichtung getestet. Während der Titankern extrem robust ist – ich konnte den Ring trotz starker Belastung nicht verformen –, hat die Beschichtung deutlich gelitten. An einem Dienstagmorgen zeigte der Ring einen Bereitschaftswert von 65 an, begründet mit einer niedrigen Herzfrequenzvariabilität (HRV) und einer hohen Körpertemperaturabweichung. Da ich mich gut fühlte, ignorierte ich die Meldung und versuchte einen Schwellenwertlauf. Nach zwanzig Minuten war ich völlig erschöpft. Der Ring hatte den physiologischen Stress erkannt, bevor mein Gehirn die Erschöpfung überhaupt registrierte. Das Fitnessstudio-Erlebnis: Es gibt Einschränkungen
Hier stößt die Oura im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Uhren an ihre Grenzen. Sie ist kein Aktivitätstracker im eigentlichen Sinne. Es gibt kein Display, um Tempo oder Herzfrequenz während des Trainings zu überprüfen. Außerdem ist das Greifen einer Klimmzugstange oder Hantel mit einem Ring ergonomisch ungünstig. Er klemmt die Haut ein und beschädigt die Oberfläche des Rings. Beim Krafttraining musste ich ihn daher abnehmen oder Handschuhe tragen, was den Sinn der permanenten Aktivitätsmessung ad absurdum führt. Beim Wandern und Laufen ist er in Ordnung. Beim Gewichtheben hingegen ist er eher hinderlich.

Im Jahr 2026 wird die Abo-Müdigkeit ein ernstzunehmendes Problem sein. Sie müssen abwägen, ob die jährlichen Kosten von 72 US-Dollar genügend Erkenntnisse liefern, um die Ausgaben zu rechtfertigen. Für Datenliebhaber: Ja. Für Gelegenheitsjogger: Wahrscheinlich nicht.
